How can I ensure that my goods remain in good condition?

Store boxes an inch away from unit wall to allow air circulation

Cover beds and furniture with furniture wraps to ensure they stay in perfect condition

We recommend NOT storing lawmowers and other items which contain oil/fuel due to the nasty fumes and the risk of spillage.  On vacating of the unit, any spillages of this nature will need to be paid for in order to be able to relet the unit

Empty all water out of washing maching pipes etc and cover ends with a bag to ensure water does not cause condensation within your unit

Use mattress and sofa covers to protect these items from soil and dust

If your unit is outside, lubricate the padlock regularly to ensure easy access

Do not use rubbish bags – plastic bags can get ripped and full of mildew from lack of ventilation

Cardboard wardrobe boxes are good for storing curtains and other fabrics – this allows them to breathe

Cover the ground space with a dust sheet – this will help protect your goods

If stacking boxes, make sure the heaviest are at the bottom

Clearly mark fragile boxes

Outside equipment should be cleaned prior to being stored and covers put on floor to protect against any possible spillage

Keep a stepstool in your unit to enable easy access to items stacked up high
